Product Description
Details

This Spanish red wine from Priorat is crafted by the Saó del Coster winery.

A single estate wine, Terram has a very limited production of only 4,800 bottles.

It is made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah. All of the grapes come from the Planassos estate, located near the town of Gratallops.

The vineyards are planted on terraces and steep slopes, both composed of a mixture of llicorella (slate) and clay limestone soils.

Harvested by hand in little boxes, the grapes of this red wine from Priorat were fermented in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts and subsequently macerated.

Each grape variety was separately vinified according to its specific requirements.

After that, Terram 2014 was aged for 18 months in 50% used and 50% new French oak barrels.

Drink now until 2024+.

Decant a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Terram has a very bright, clean cherry colour with a garnet rim.

Nose

Expressive, deep and fragrant, this wine by Saó del Coster smells of black fruit, charcoal, liquorice, balsam and graphite, underpinned by hints of smoke, spices, toast and black slate. Terram vinyes de Planassos is simply enchanting.

Palate

Complex and with plenty of room for growth, this red wine from Priorat has a deeply mineral character and shows grip and a solid backbone of acidity. Remembrances of mulberries, blackcurrants, clove, cocoa powder and undergrowth. Long, complex finish with, again, a resounding minerality.

Our personal opinion

A little-known jewel from Priorat, Terram 2014 is a serious effort that will develop an even greater complexity over the next years.

good terram
Value
After a very promising beginning, this winery seemed to fade away a few years ago. Now they are back in full swing, producing beauties such as this Terram. Already delightful, it needs a good 5 years to peak. Review by Enlightened meditator (Posted on 09/10/2018)
