This classic Spanish red wine is a varietal Tempranillo wine made from estate-owned vineyards located in Ribera del Duero. 30% of the vines are over 50 years old, while the rest are 20 to 40 years of age.
The harvest of Tinto Figuero 12 Meses, produced by Bodegas y Viñedos García Figuero, was carried out in little boxes to avoid fruit bruises.
Once in the cellar, the grapes were put into stainless steel tanks and cold-soaked for over a period of two days.
During the process of alcoholic fermentation, perodic punch-overs and pump-downs were performed to maximize contact between the wine and the solid skin cap.
Then Tinto Figuero 12 Meses 2018 was transferred into 95% French and 5% American oak barrels, where it was aged for 12 months. Once bottled, it was aged for another 24 months.
Decant this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
The wine Tinto Figuero 12 Meses is bright cherry with a garnet rim.
Intense, but not overdone. Notes of ripe strawberries, blackberries, balsam, liquorice and cocoa. Subtle mineral undertones, mingled with dim toasted notions. A nicely balanced Tempranillo.
Savoury and gentle, this red wine from Bodegas García Figuero has a velvety texture, noble tannins and good acidity. Well-balanced and quite focused, with a long, fruity finish. Still quite young, though, with plenty of room for improvement.

The excellently priced Tinto Figuero 12 Meses 2018 is complex and elegant. A very interesting Ribera.
