Red Wine Tocat i Posat 2014

Made from a blend of Grenache and Carignan coming from 60 to 100-year-old vines grown in slate soils, Tocat i Posat is a remarkable Spanish red wine produced in the region of L'Empordà, near the Catalan-French border.
The grapes were picked up by hand and selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks.
After that, Tocat i Posat 2014 completed malolactic fermentation and a 12-month ageing period in French oak barrels from Allier.
Finally, this wine produced jointly by the Coca i Fitó and the Roig Parals wineries was fined with egg whites and bottled.
Prior to its release, this Empordà red wine was aged for a further 6 months in the cellar.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.
The wine Tocat i Posat has a medium-high, bright cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
This blend of Carignan and Grenache has a lot of character, as is usually the case with Empordà wines. Ripe blackcurrants and blueberries, a fleck of cocoa, spices and blue flowers, and a deep, resounding mineral background nuanced by some balsamic notions.
Bold and complex, this wine of the Coca i Fitó winery has a lot to offer. Delicately spicy and enticingly mineral, with a peculiar dryness and a Mediterranean character which shows in the notes of garrigue and underbrush. Crisp acidity and crunchy tannins. Long finish with a slightly bitter touch.

Ambitious, but not pretentious, Tocat i Posat 2014 will pair wonderfully with hearty meat dishes.
