Product Description

The production of the high-end Rioja red wine Trasnocho begins with a selection of the best grapes. The proportion is 90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, and 5% Malvasía & Viura, coming from the very best plots of the prestigious Remírez de Ganuza winery.

Selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar, all of the grapes come from low-yielding, over 60-year-old vines.

This exceptional Spanish red wine from La Rioja was first cold-macerated at a temperature of 4-6ºC for 24 hours in specially designed tanks. After that, the grapes were destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks and French oak vats.

Then this reserva red wine from La Rioja was transferred into 95% new French oak and 5% American oak barrels, where it completed a 21-month ageing process.

We suggest that you decant Trasnocho 2012 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Trasnocho has an intense, dark, high cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.

Extremely rich display of aromas. This reserva red wine smells of cassis, blackcurrants and blackberries, combined with a panoply of Eastern spices and notes of underbrush. On the background, this Tempranillo from La Rioja conveys notes of dry earth, blue flowers, and tips of balsam, resin and tobacco leaves.

Expressive and creamy, with wonderfully balanced notions of fruit and spices, intertwined with suggestions of withered leaves, sweet spices, pipe tobacco, undergrowth and flowers. This red wine by Remírez de Ganuza has some silky tannins, a rock-solid acidity and a very long, enticing finish.

Our personal opinion

The remarkable Trasnocho 2012 is a rather special wine. One that aims high, and is able to live up to its ambitions.

Oh yes
Not for everyday drinking - at least for me. - However, being able to drink a beauty such as this once in a while brings me utter joy.
