Product Description

A staunch believer in the potential of the indigenous Mencía grape, Jorge Ordóñez produces Tritón Mencía from grapes coming from vines about 50 years of age.

The high-altitude vineyard is located in the northern Spanish region of Castilla y León. Climate is continental, with harsh winters and dry, hot summers.

Carefully harvested according to the ripening state of each of the plots, this Spanish red wine by Bodegas Ordóñez was fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently transferred into French oak barrels.

There, Tritón Mencía 2014 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 10 months.

Enjoy this expressive crianza red wine over the next 4 years. Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Tritón Mencía has an intense, bright, medium purple-coloured robe with a garnet rim.

This Mencía from Castilla y León is undoubtedly intense, but more nuanced than one might expect. Lively notes of black fruit and jammy red fruit, some spicy notes, aromas of orange rind and balsam and some mineral undertones.

Gentle wooden notes, underpinned by meaty fruit, spices, balsam and a surprisingly metallic touch. This red wine by Jorge Ordóñez has a good acidity, delicious tannins and a medium, pleasant finish.

Our personal opinion

Not many wines offer more for its price than Tritón Mencía 2014 by Jorge Ordóñez. It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats.

the wine triton
Earthy, deep Mencía. Amazingly juicy, with plenty of substance.
