Details

The varietal Tros Blanc is the flagship Spanish white wine of the prestigious winemaker Alfredo Arribas. It is, so to speak, his Grand Cru.

The grapes come from a single White Grenache plot -"Tros", in Catalan - planted with over 80-year-old, low-yielding vines located at an altitude of 240 metres, in the very heart of the DO Montsant.

The excellent 2015 vintage of this white wine from Montsant was harvested by hand in little boxes, and subsequently fermented in big French oak vats.

After that, this varietal old-vines White Grenache was aged for 10 months on lees in 500-litre French oak barrels.

A high-end, age-worthy white wine, Tros Blanc 2015 will certainly improve in the bottle.

Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The white wine Tros Blanc is pale yellow with some golden tinges.

Nose

A wine worthy of some serious attention, this White Grenache has a multilayered and nuanced nose. Very pure aromas of white fruit and bone fruit, with a some flecks of white flowers, Mediterranean garrigue, deep menthol and spicy remembrances, and a mineral and earthy note.

Palate

Fresh, bold and full of potential, this white wine of Alfredo Arribas carries loads of information in the process of coming together. Citrus and peaches, a hint of balsam and flowers, a note of underbrush, and remembrances of earth, dry fruit and honey. Great acidity, intrincate texture and remarkable breadth. This Montsant white wine has a long finish with a gently bitter and deeply mineral note.

Our personal opinion Complex and rewarding, Tros Blanc 2015 is the perfect white wine for a special occasion.

Absolutely first-class. Approaching its peak, it is as good as a top Burgundy white. Lots of structure and finesse.
