Red Wine Tros de Clos 2016
Availability: In stock
This exceptional red wine from Priorat is made solely from Carignan. A truly Mediterranean Grand Cru, it is made from grapevines coming from a 1 hectare plot planted in 1911.
The soils are composed of dark slate -the world-famous llicorella from Priorat-, and all of the farming operations are performed manually, following the guidelines of organic farming.
After the harvest, the undestemmed grapes were fermented and macerated in open barrels.
Then Tros de Clos 2016 was aged for 12 months in big French oak barrels.
Decant this very old-vines Carignan no less than 2 hours before drinking.
Drink until 2027.
The wine Tros de Clos has a high, dark cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
Remarkably deep, complex and mineral, with that intriguing freshness which is one of Carignan's trademarks. Fruit is of great quality, and it is delicately nuanced by hints of spices and marvelous suggestions of garrigue, earth, charcoal and petricor. All in all, the old-vines operates as a faithful transmitter of the rugged, unique character of the Priorat terroir.
Fresh, complex, multi-layered and immensely deep, this red wine by Portal del Priorat has an excellent and some ripe, delicious tannins. Very precise, suggestive and profound, confident and with plenty of room for growth. This wine by Alfredo Arribas has a very long, marvelously mineral finish.
