Produced by Bodegas Valdesil, Valderroa greatly benefits from an Atlantic, mineral terroir composed of granite and slate that brings this Spanish red wine a distinctive character.
A single varietal Mencía, this red wine from Valdeorras is made from vines planted in several plots at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level within the DO Valdeorras, in the Galician province of Ourense.
Harvested by hand, this varietal Mencía was vinified in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. Valderroa 2017 was fermented, macerated with daily pump-overs, and finally clarified, filtered and cold stabilized.
The red wine Valderroa has a bright, cherry-coloured robe with a shiny violet rim.
This Galician red wine carries some delightfully intense, slightly wild notes of red fruit, nuanced by some mineral notions and a dash of aromatic herbs. A very idiomatic Mencía red wine.
Fresh and energetic, this red wine from Bodega Valdesil has a meaty, yummy texture and a delightful immediacy. Cranberries, underbrush and earthy remembrances. Long and crisp, with lively tannins, a tense acidity, and a mineral aftertaste.
