The low-yielding grapevines are located at an altitude around 800 metres above sea level. The soils are mainly clayey-limestone, punctuated by areas of sand. Climate is continental.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were fermented and macerated at a controlled temperature for 18 days. Then this Spanish red wine was aged for over a period of 30 months in French, American and Central European oak barrels.
After that,Valduero Reserva 2012 was aged for a further 18 months in the bottle prior to its release.
This reserva red wine is slowly approaching its peak.
Aerate this Ribera del Duero red wine 1 hour before drinking.
The red wine Valduero Reserva has a high, cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
This varietal Tinta Fina shows some seductive aromas of fine wood, toast, coffee, cocoa and leather. On the background, this reserva red wine is reminiscent of raisins, withered leaves, dry earth and blackcurrants. A complex, ever-evolving nose.
With a bold entrance onto the palate, this wine of the Bodegas Valduero has a solid structure, some crunchy tannins and a very good acidity. Terroir-oriented and complex, the wine shows remembrances of dry earth, blackcurrants, lavender, black truffles, tree bark, coffee, cocoa powder and spices. Long, slightly bitter finish.
|Our personal opinion||
The deep and richly layered Valduero Reserva 2012 will pair wonderfully with stews, game dishes and cured cheeses.
