Details

Produced by Bodegas ValdueroValduero Tierra Alta en 2 maderas belongs to a new collection of wines called "Tierra Alta".

This varietal Spanish red wine is produced from low-yielding Tempranillo vineyards perched at 830 metres of altitude, in the heart of DO Ribera del Duero. The vines are over 30 years old, and they are planted in very poor soils composed of clay, limestone and sand, in an area with a harsh Continental climate.

Harvested by hand at the beginning of October, the grapes were fermented, macerated and then aged for a period of 15 months in American and French oak barrels.

After that, Valduero Tierra Alta en 2 maderas 2017 was aged for a further 21 months in the cellar before its commercial release.

Aerate this red wine from Ribera del Duero some time before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Valduero Tierra Alta en 2 maderas is medium purple with a violet rim.

Nose

This varietal Tempranillo is lively and well defined. Notes of black fruit, balsam and spices (cumin, clove, nutmeg), punctuated by some mineral undertones and notes of withered leaves, tree bark and Jamaican pepper.

Palate

Bold, but not overpowering, this Reserva red wine has a meaty texture sustained by a steely acidity. Juicy notes of red and black fruit and a rich panoply of spicy and balsamic sensations. This wine from Bodegas Valduero has some ripe tannins and a long, complex finish with remembrances of dry earth and forest floor.

Our personal opinion

The delicious Valduero Tierra Alta en 2 maderas 2017 is the perfect wine for the lovers of the classic Ribera del Duero style.
