This Village Wine (Vino de Villa) is a blend of Mencía, Bastardo (aka Trousseau) and Alicante Bouschet (aka Garnacha Tintorera), with a brushstroke of white varieties.
North-oriented, the vines are 40 to 100 years old.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were spontaneously fermented whole-bunch in open wooden vats. After a 60-day maceration with a daily punch-down of the solid skin cap, the wine was racked, pressed and left to rest for 40 to 50 days. After that, Valtuille Vino de Villa 2019 was transferred into 225 and 500-litre French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. Finally, the barrels were sampled and the wine was bottled.

The red wine Valtuille Vino de Villa is bright cherry with a garnet rim.
An enticing bouquet of flowers, with subtle aromas of cranberries and amarena cherries, subtle mineral and earthy remembrances and dim spicy hints. This blend of Mencía, Bastardo, Alicante Bouschet and some white varieties is captivating.
Detailed, smooth and really complex, all in the spontaneous manner that few winemakers, with the exception of Raúl Pérez, seem able to achieve. Silky tannins, steely acidity and long finish with some fruity and mineral remembrances.
