Product Description

The best-known wine from Bodega Vetus, Vetus is born in the very heart of the DO Toro.

This excellently priced, single estate Spanish red wine is crafted from vines grown in a pristine environment at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level.

A varietal Tinta de Toro, the vines grow in sandy-limestone soils oriented north-south.

Harvested by hand, after a meticulous selection the grape bunches were destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then this red wine from Toro underwent malolactic fermentation in the tanks and was aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. This Crianza red wine was not clarified before its bottling.

Decant Vetus 2017 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Vetus has a clean, bright cherry colour with a garnet rim and some violet tinges.

The nose of this varietal Tinta de Toro is defined by notes of red berries and black fruit over a vegetal and herbal background. There are some overtones of licorice, coffee, toast, balsam, leather and aniseed.

Pleasant and well-structured, this wine of Bodega Vetus has lively tannins, a great freshness and a crisp acidity. Pure notions of fruit and dry earth, alongside some touches of coffee, blue flowers and tree bark. Very bright, with a long, complex finish.

Our personal opinion

A modern style Toro, Vetus 2017 is well-crafted, expressive and nicely drinkable.

Give me more Toro wines like this, please. Concentrated, very intense and very honest. Deeeep and, after a while, unexpectedly refined. Lots of flowers and a remembrance of dry forest.
