Produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Godelia, this is the new vintage of Viernes Mencía.
This Spanish red wine from the DO El Bierzo is produced from over 30-year-old vineyards located at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres. The soils are mainly composed of slate.
The Mencía grapes were harvested by hand. Once in the cellar, they were destemmed, fermented and macerated with the skins for 15 days. After the completion of malolactic fermentation, Viernes Mencía 2019 was aged for 4 months on its lees in stainless steel tanks.
The red wine Viernes Mencía has an intense, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
This varietal Mencía from El Bierzo shows fresh aromas of red fruit, along with creamy notes of spices, some lactic touches, dim floral remembrances, and a distant mineral character.
Yummy and zippy, this red wine by Bodegas y Viñedos Godelia carries some savoury notes of red fruit, with fresh suggestions of menthol, balsam and wild plants, and a dash of pepper. This young red wine aged on lees has a very good acidity, some crunchy tannins, and a long finish with remembrances of red fruit and a touch of liquorice.
