Details

A varietal and single parcel wine, Viña Pedrosa Finca La Navilla is born in an exceptional terroir located in the very heart of Ribera del Duero.

Perched at 850 metres of altitude, the vineyard has a special microclimate, with huge differences of temperature between daytime and nighttime.

That key feature, as well as its clay-limestone soils, results in a remarkably complex Spanish red wine.

Made solely from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), the 20 to 35-year-old vines were harvested by hand. Then this wine of Bodegas Hnos.Pérez Pascuas was fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

After that, Viña Pedrosa La Navilla 2017 was aged in French oak barrels from Allier for a period of 20 months. Then, this reserva red wine was aged for a minimum of 16 months in the bottle.

Decant this Ribera del Duero red wine a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.

26,650 bottles produced.

Appearance

The red wine Viña Pedrosa La Navilla is deep purple with some bluish tinges.

Nose

Complex and expressive, this Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) red wine carries aromas of bilberries and mulberries, with suggestions of cedar, dried tobacco, fine leather, cocoa powder and Jamaica pepper. There is a background of aromatic herbs, undergrowth and some mineral nuances.

Palate

Bold and powerful, this red wine from Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas has a big structure and an exceptional acidity. Notes of ripe plums, blackberries, laurel, sandalwood, tobacco, balsam and menthol. Extremely long finish. This is first-class wine with a remarkable ageing potential.

Our personal opinion

A soulful wine, Viña Pedrosa La Navilla 2017 is deep and reasonably priced.

Wine heaven, at least for me. The seriousness and elegance of a great Ribera is difficult to match.
