Crafted by Bodegas Hermanos Sastre only in truly remarkable vintages, Viña Sastre Pesus is one of the most prestigious wines from DO Ribera del Duero. The production of this Spanish red wine is very scarce, usually in the region of 2,000 bottles.
Besides Tinta del País (Tempranillo), the main variety, this red wine from Ribera del Duero contains a 15% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The three varieties are sourced from vineyards with clay-limestone soils 90 years old on average, planted on the margins of the Duero river, at around 800 metres of altitude.
The vinification of this reserva red wine was utterly traditional and exquisitely precise. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine went through the malo in new French oak barrels.
After that, Viña Sastre Pesus 2011 was aged for 22 months with 4 racking before being bottled. Finally, it was aged for some years in the bottle.
It is essential to decant this majestic wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
