Red Wine Vivanco Reserva 2014
Availability: In stock
The elegant and excellently priced Vivanco Reserva is made form a blend of Tempranillo (90%) and Graciano (10%).
Produced by Bodegas Vivanco, the grapes were separately harvested and meticulously vinified. The Tempranillo was reaped at the beginnig of October, while the Graciano harvest took place along the whole month.
Carefully harvested and kept in cold storage for 24 hours immediately after they were brought to the cellar, fermentation and maceration took place in little French oak vats with mild pump-overs. After that, this Spanish red wine was aged for 24 months in new and 2nd year French oak barrels.
Blended and aged for a furher period of time in French wooden vats, Vivanco Reserva 2012 finally spent 24 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
Complex and age-worthy, this Reserve red wine will evolve beautifully over the next 6 years.
Interestingly, the label reproduces a still-life painting by the great Spanish cubist painter Juan Gris.
Appearance | The red wine Vivanco Reserva has an intense, bright, medium-high garnet-coloured robe with a cherry-coloured rim. |

Nose | At first, this blend of Tempranillo & Graciano suggests some deep toasted notes, alongside aromas of liquor-infused black fruit and some spicy remembrances (cinnamon, clove and pepper). As this wine from La Rioja opens, there appear rich hints of underbrush, smoke and fine leather. |
Palate | Intense and complex. This Rioja red wine has a warm core and a velvery texture. The juicy red fruit is intertwined with notions of toast and pepper, as well as hints of balsam and tobacco. Bold and well-structured, this wine by Bodegas Vivanco has some lively tannins and great acidity. Long finish with some fruity and smokey remembrances. |
Our personal opinion | Mature, but not already at its peak, Vivanco Reserva 2012 pairs marvelously with stews and game dishes. |
