Details

A single varietal Chardonnay wine made by the Enrique Mendoza winery, Enrique Mendoza Chardonnay Fermentado en Barrica is made from grapes coming from a single estate called Finca El Chaconero.

Located in the sunny southeastern Spanish region of Alicante, the estate is a purely Mediterranean terroir which is farmed following environmentally friendly procedures. Thus, fertilizers are of animal origin, and the winery uses no chemical pesticides or insecticides.

Carefully selected, the grapes of this Crianza white wine were cold-soaked for 3 hours prior to fermentation.

Then, Enrique Mendoza Chardonnay Fermentado en Barrica 2017 was fermented and subsequently aged for 6 months in new French oak barrels.

Drink this Spanish white wine over the next 3 years.

Additional Information

Appearance

The wine Enrique Mendoza Chardonnay Fermentado en Barrica has a clean, bright, pale yellow colour with some golden tinges. This white wine from Alicante appears dense on the glass.

Nose

This white wine aged in oak is remarkably complex on the nose. Notes of ripe pineapple and banana, typical of a Mediterranean Chardonnay, combined with aromas of citrus, bitter herbs, withered leaves, pastry, butter, dry fruit and honey.

Palate

Creamy, but not too unctuous. This white wine by Enrique Mendoza has an elegantly dry touch, with an agile body and remembrances of citrus, white fruit and butter, underpinned by a sophisticated salty touch. This wine from Alicante has a long, delicately bitter finish with some remembrances of citrus and mineral. A rather interesting Chardonnay fermented in oak.

Our personal opinion

The Spanish white wine Enrique Mendoza Chardonnay Fermentado en Barrica 2017 pairs marvelously with shrimp, and it is also a great combination with creamy goat cheeses.
