A company whose reputation has not ceased to improve over the last years, Bodegas Enrique Mendoza was one of the first wineries to produce quality wines in the southeastern spanish region of Alicante.
Produced from an equal blend of Merlot and Monastrell (Mourvèdre), Enrique Mendoza Merlot-Monastrell has long been one of our customer's favourites. The grapes come from estate vineyards farmed following highly respectful, environmentally-friendly practices.
Carefully harvested and selected, the grapes of this red wine from Alicante were fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Then the wine was transferred into French and American oak barrels (from Allier and Oregon respectively) where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 13 months.
Neither filtered nor clarified prior to its bottling, Enrique Mendoza Merlot-Monastrell 2015 may contain some sediment. Thus, we suggest that you decant it 30 minutes before you drink it.
This expressive blend of Merlot and Monastrell will improve in the bottle for the next 4-5 years.
The red wine Enrique Mendoza Merlot-Monastrell has a bright cherry colour with a violet rim.
Dim notes of Moroccan spices, cinnamon and vanilla, alongside creamy aromas of red berries, typical of Merlot and Monastrell. This red wine from Alicante also suggests some expressive notes of violets, dry earth, Mediterranean garrigue and smoke.
Very pleasant, revealing savoury red fruit, some creamy lactic notes, a spicy tip and notions of Mediterranean undergrowth combined with some mineral remembrances. This red wine by Bodegas Enrique Mendoza has everything in the right place. Tense acidity, rewarding freshness and long, fruity finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Fresh and expressive, Enrique Mendoza Merlot-Monastrell 2015 pairs very well with a vegan paella - a real delicacy you should definitely taste .- Needless to say, it should be made with fresh Mediterranean veggies.
