This Spanish red wine is made from over 40-year-old, low-yielding, goblet-trained vineyards located at altitudes between 600 and 1050 metres which are planted in slate and quartzite soils. Fabla Garnacha belongs to the Las Pizarras Collection, a series of deeply mineral wines grown in slate soils produced by Bodegas y Viñedos del Jalón.
Harvested by hand and selected on the premises, the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed and cold-macerated in stainless steel tanks for several days. After that, Fabla Garnacha 2015 was aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.
Drink this Grenache from Aragón until 2020.
The red wine Fabla Garnacha has a high cherry-coloured robe with a violet edge.
Intense and quite complex, this Grenache from Calatayud smells of strawberry preserve, dried plums, fresh cranberries and cocoa. On the backgroud, some mineral and balsamic remembrances.
Smoother than one might think for a wine this mineral, Fabla suggests notes of liquorice, wet rocks, wild berries and also, surprisingly, a touch of honey. This red wine by Bodegas y Viñedos del Jalón has a long, toasted finish.
|Our personal opinion||
A remarkable value, Fabla Garnacha 2015 pairs fabulously with Ibérico cured meats, Manchego cheese and roast recipes.
