Fillaboa Selección Monte Alto 2014 is a remarkable Spanish white wine entirely made from Albariño.

It was produced from grapes coming from a single, 6-hectare estate located near the mouth of the Miño river.

As for the 2014 vintage, climate was purely Atlantic, with cool temperatures and a high degree of humidity all over the year.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed.

Then the "free-run" must was fermented in stainless steel tanks.

After that, this wine of the Fillaboa winery was aged on its lees for 12 months with periodic stirrings.

This white wine from Rías Baixas has a production of 10,000 bottles.

Drink now until 2023.

Additional Information

Very bright, clean straw yellow colour with some grey tinges.

Complex aromas of white fruit, citrus, tropical fruit, lees, dry fruit and white flowers, underlined by deep mineral notes and suggestions of terroir.

Though Fillaboa Monte Alto is voluptuous and palate-coating, the wine also has a rock-solid structure and a lively character, neither heavy nor flaccid. Dry fruit, citrus, tropical fruit, aniseed, fennel and aromatic herbs, underpinned by enticing mineral and earthy aromas. Smooth texture, a distinctive personality and a long finish.

Our personal opinion

Fillaboa Selección Monte Alto 2014 is a substantial wine made from Albariño, one of Spain's queen white varieties.
