Made from Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Flor d’Albera is a Spanish white wine ("Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains") coming from the northern Catalan region of L'Empordà.

The grapes come from Masia Carreras, an estate planted with old vines grown in high-acid, slate soils which have low levels of organic matter and are constantly swept by a harsh northern wind called Tramuntana.

Meticulously harvested and traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks, this white wine from L'Empordà was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Produced by the Martí Fabra winery, Flor d’Albera 2017 is the perfect companion for fish recipes.

Additional Information

The wine Flor d'Albera has a clean, bright, wax-yellow colour with some golden tinges.

This wine by the Martí Fabra winery shows well-balanced notes of vanilla, ripe white grapes, white flowers and white fruit, typical of a Muscat white wine. On the background, hints of spices and some mineral remembrances.

This Crianza white wine achieves a remarkable equilibrium between freshness, intensity and creaminess. Some smokey notions, a remembrance of withered vegetables, some mineral undertones and remembrances of honey, citrus and royal jelly. This wine from L'Empordà has a great structure and long, persistent finish.

Our personal opinion

A very interesting white wine, Flor d'Albera 2017 will pair marvelously with a lobster rice, one of L'Empordà's many gastronomic wonders.

Sort of earthy, but with the yummy note of Muscat and a nice acidity.

  2. Albera review by Al Brown on 9/25/2017

Delicately sweet, but with a touch of acidity that makes it all the more interesting.
