Details

One of the kosher wines that the Celler Capçanes winery produces since 1985, Flor de Primavera Peraj Ha'Abib from Montsant has earned quite a reputation over the last years.

All of the winemaking procedures performed during the making of this wine were carried out under the strict guidance and control of the Rabbinate Chabad Lubavitch Barcelona.

This exquisite Spanish red wine is crafted from a blend of Grenache, coming from three vineyards 50 to 70 years of age, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Samsó (Carignan). The grapevines have extremely low yields, and all of them are planted in terraces with clay-granitic soils located at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level.

Meticulously harvested, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation was completed in new and used kosher French oak barrels.

Then this kosher-for-Passover red wine was aged for 12 months in those barrels.

Finally, Flor de Primavera Peraj Ha´Abib 2016 was gently filtered and further aged for 3 months in tanks prior to its bottling.

Production of this red wine from Montsant is limited: only 7,500 bottles and some magnums.

Drink now until 2029. Decant  a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Flor de Primavera Peraj Ha'Abib has a very bright, clean, intense cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.

Nose

Earthy, deep, remarkably complex. At first, Peraj Ha'Abib Flor de Primavera shows pure aromas of redcurrants, raspberries and blueberries, which slowly evolve into delicate suggestions of flowers, lavender and Mediterranean garrigue. There is a background of freshly ground coffee, cocoa, liquorice, spices, alongside some deep mineral undertones.

Palate

Round, juicy and palate-coating, this kosher wine by Celler de Capçanes has a lush texture, layered and nuanced, with plenty of cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants, sustained by a crisp acidity and an enticing mineral skeleton. Remembrances of aromatic herbs and spices, bold tannins and first-class acidity. This Montsant red wine has a long, extremely pleasant finish.

Our personal opinion

Powerful, elegant and highly idiosyncratic, Flor de Primavera Peraj Ha'Abib 2016 pairs wonderfully with hearty dishes. L'Chaim!

This is excellent. It needs a good 4-5 years to peak. Please, we want more Kosher wines on your website.

A superb wine, with great concentration, authority and definition. Oak dresses the wine, but not suffocates it. There is a real sense of terroir here. Mazel tov!
