The well-known Freixenet winery is the producer of this Spanish sparkling wine. The name Freixenet Cuvée DS is an hommage to Dolors Sala, one of the cofounders of the company.
After that, Freixenet Cuvée D.S. Brut Gran Reserva 2013 was bottled and aged in the cellar for 48 months.
Finally, this Cava from Penedès was disgorged and added a tiny amount of shipping liquor, which had been previously aged in chestnut barrels.
Belonging to the Cuvées de Prestige series, this cava gran reserva is only produced in exceptional vintages.
The cava Freixenet Cuvée D.S. Brut Gran Reserva has an intense straw yellow colour with some grey tinges.
Delicate aromas of toast, dry fruit and fine lees, combined with remembrances of pastry and ripe white fruit. On the background of this Gran Reserva Brut from Penedès, there are some hints of marzipan, with a note of citrus and aromatic herbs.
Smooth and elegant, with some little, palate-caressing bubbles and an excellent acidiy. This Cuvée DS by Freixenet is reminiscent of citrus, patisserie and ripe fruit, with sparks of jasmine, balsam, fine lees and toast. Long finish with some smokey remembrances.
