Goliardo A Telleira 2013 is a premium Galician white wine, crafted by the one and only Raúl Pérez, one of the world's top oenologists, from vines located in the Salnés valley, a region belonging to the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin.
A single varietal Albariño, the grapes come from a single vineyard planted more than 40 years ago. Those grapes are also used by Mr. Pérez to produce Sketch, the white wine that he markets under his own name.
The grapes of this white wine of the Forjas del Salnés winery were harvested by hand, fermented, and aged in 700-litre vats for 12 months.
After that, Goliardo A Telleira was aged for 2 months at 30 metres underwater in specially designed containers able to keep constant temperature, humidity and pressure.
The result is simply remarkable. Only 600 bottles.
Peculiar Spanish white wine from Rias Baixas with a long evolution in bottle will allow us to enjoy over the next six years.
It opens slowly and wait at least 30 minutes to start enjoying it.
Very bright, dense yellow colour with some steely tinges and a golden rim.
Pristine notes of white fruit, alongside some smokey aromas and remembrances of white pepper, all punctuated by deep mineral undertones, some herbal nuances, a salty touch and intimations of white flowers.
Unctuous, focused and masterly crafted. Wonderful balance between acidity, fruit, the salty character and the tannic structure. Extremely elegant and idiosyncratic. Long, persistent, bitter and salty finish.
