Gramona Sauvignon Blanc is an organic, single estate Spanish white wine coming form a 5-hectare plot located on the foothills of the Montserrat mountains.
Belonging to the Penedès DO, the plants have very low yields and grow in slate soils.
Harvested by hand and selected on site and in the cellar, the grapes were gently pressed in order to use only the free-run juice.
After that, this single varietal Sauvignon Blanc began alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Before its end, it was transferred into French oak barrels of three different ages, where the process was completed.
Then Gramona Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was aged for 3 months on its lees with periodic stirrings.
This white wine by the Gramona winery was further aged in tanks and in the bottle before its release.
Drink this white wine from Penedès until 2020.
Gramona Sauvignon Blanc has a bright, clean pale yellow colour with some steely and greenish tinges.
This varietal Sauvignon Blanc by Gramona really needs some aeration. White and yellow fruit, a touch of tropical fruit, notes of fennel and aniseed and rich aromas of Mediterranean herbs, vegetables, spices and smoke.
Dry, creamy and moreish, this Sauvignon Blanc from Penedès tilts toward the tropical side on the palate, nuanced by aromatic herbs, citrus and a salty touch. Good acidity and a long, complex finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Elegant and versatile, Gramona Sauvignon Blanc 2015 stands comparison with some of the great Sauvignon Blanc wines from New Zealand.

First-rate Sauv. Blanc, comparable to many NZ ones.
A friend included this wine in a tasting of Sauvignon Blanc wines from all over the world. This stroke a chord with me. It has a mineral, earthy side that I simply adore.
