This is by no means an ordinary rosé. Crafted by the Can Ràfols dels Caus winery, Gran Caus Rosat is a wine that succeeds in assembling the lightness of a rosé with the complexity of a red wine.
The vines are planted in sandy-limestone soils at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. They are located in the Garraf Massif, a coastal area where soils have a very particular minerality.
The grapes of this rosé wine from Penedès were harvested by hand, and the "free-run" juice was obtained after an 18 to 24 hour cold-soaking process. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks lasted for 40 days.

The young rosé Gran Caus Rosat has a bright, medium ruby-coloured robe with a reddish rim.
Lively and enticing, this organic Spanish rosé wine exhibits very pure aromas of red berries, remembrances of strawberry milkshake, notes of aromatic herbs, such as rosemary, thyme and laurel, and a dash of withered flowers.
On the palate, this wine by Can Ràfols dels Caus is very seductive and well-balanced, with a fruity side that is simply delicious and, at the same time, a wonderful freshness. Medium-bodied, linear and tense, with a velvety texture that evokes notions of fruit, liquorice, and herbs over a dim mineral background. This rosé wine made form Merlot has a medium, smooth finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Light, but also rich and complex, Gran Caus Rosat 2017 pairs marvelously with Italian food, rice dishes and roasted meat.

This is one of the few rosés that REALLY ages well. I've drinking some old bottles over the last years and its evolution has been nothing short of spectacular. Congrats to Can Ràfols!!
