This Spanish red wine is the top product of the Máximo Abete winery.
It is a single varietal Grenache coming from three little plots located on a hilly area and planted with vineyards over 75 years of age.
Selected twice, first on site and then in the cellar, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks.
After that, Guerinda La Abejera was aged for 14 months in 300-litre French oak barrels.
Finally, it was clarified with egg whites and aged for a further months in the bottle before its release.
Drink Guerinda La Abejera 2014 from Navarra until 2022+.
Decant at least 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine Guerinda La Abejera has an intense violet colour with a garnet rim.
This crianza red wine by the Máximo Abete winery conveys some deep, delicious aromas of red fruit and violets, some nuances of vanilla, cocoa and toast, and some profound mineral and earthy undertones.
Good balance between fruit and oak, which also shows potential for improvement. This varietal old-vines Grenache from Navarra is well-defined, smooth and fresh, with an excellent acidity and some mild tannins. Some mineral notions underscore a layer of pure fresh fruit, accompanied by aromas of flowers, spices and balsam. Long finish.

I'd tried the entry-level wines of the winery, so I thought I'd give the top wine a go. This is an excellent Garnacha, different from Priorat's or Madrid's. Elegant, very precise, fresh and enjoyable.
