Details

The Crianza  wine Jaros is produced by the Viñas del Jaro winery, a brand of the Compañía de Viñedos Iberian, owned by the Osborne brothers.

This delightful Spanish red wine comes from a single estate, Finca El Quiñón, located on the banks of the Duero river, between the towns of Valbuena and Pesquera de Duero. That is, in the very heart of the Ribera del Duero region.

The wine is made from a blend of  Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks, the wine was macerated for 14 days and subsequently aged for 16 months in new, 300-litre French oak barrels.

Finally, it was aged for some months in the bottle before its release.

An age-worthy wine, Jaros 2016 will improve in the bottle over the next 5-7 years.

Aerate this red wine from Ribera del Duero 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Jaros has a very bright, clean, high cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.

Nose

Deep aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, plums and cranberries, punctuated by notions of underbush, aromatic herbs, liquorice, Arabica coffee, toast and sweet spices. This Crianza red wine by Viñas del Jaro has a lot to offer.

Palate

Elegant and a bit restrained, this red wine from Ribera del Duero has some slightly dry tannins that need some time to fully integrate, a fresh acidity and first-class quality fruit. The wine is still a little tight, but it has real potential for improvement. Long, persistent finish with remembrances of black fruit, spices and balsam.

Our personal opinion

A wine by the Compañía de Viñedos Iberian, Jaros 2016 is a modern, elegant, enjoyable wine that will improve substantially in the bottle.
