Made from old-vines scattered over different plots located in the region of "La Seca", this Spanish red wine is born at the very heart of Rueda, in an area that constitutes the highest point of the Spanish meseta, right on the high plateau of the Duero river.
The grapes of this single varietal Verdejo were meticulously harvested and carefully selected.
Gently crushed, the wine must was fermented in new and 2nd year French oak barrels from different cooperages. After that it was aged for a period of 6 months, with punch-downs and pump-overs performed on a regular basis.
After this, José Pariente Fermentado en Barrica 2017 spent a further 5 months in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it was clarified and stabilized before its bottling.
Drink this white wine fermented in oak from now to 2025.
The white wine José Pariente Fermentado en Barrica has a straw yellow colour with golden tinges and a greenish hue at the rim.
The nose of this Verdejo from Rueda is very elegant, insinuating subtle mineral aromas, notes of white and yellow fruit, hints of aromatic herbs and a delicate smoky touch.
Unctuous and smooth, this white wine by José Pariente has a great balance between fruit and oak. Rich nuances of dry herbs, ripe pineapples, apple compote, English custard and some hints of exotic spices and smoke. Great acidity, as is usually the case with Verdejo wines. Long, fruity finish with a remembrance of hay and fennel.

A classy Verdejo from Rueda judiciously fermented and aged in oak, José Pariente Fermentado en Barrica 2017 has considerable complexity and a nice ageing potential.

I bought several bottles to age them. Mind you, this wine improves dramatically in the bottle.
For my money this is one of Spain's great Verdejos. I'd give you three Chards for one bottle of this at any time.
