Details

L'Avi Arrufí 2010 is a singular, age-worthy red wine from Terra Alta with which Celler Piñol pays tribute to the grandfather of this family winery.

This red wine is made from a blend of 60% Carignan, 30% Grenache and 10% Syrah coming from 25 to 50 year old vines located at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level and planted in clay-limestone soils with very low levels of organic matter.

Each variety was harvested at its optimal ripening state and meticulously selected.

After that, this wine from Terra Alta underwent a traditional vinification process and was aged for a period of 18 months in new French and American oak barrels.

Decant L'Avi Arrufí 1 hour before drinking.

Drink now to 2024.

Additional Information

Appearance

Very bright, intense, medium-high red-coloured robe with a violet rim.

Nose

Intense notes of ripe red fruit, wild berries, toast, cocoa and some flowery nuances and mineral undertones.

Palate

Powerful and characteristic, the wine has a velvety body and a refreshing, well-balanced acidity. Quite complex, with a sense of terroir, mild, creamy tannins and a long, harmonious finish with notes of fruit and some mineral echoes.

Our personal opinion

L'Avi Arrufí 2010 is elegant and rewarding. Though now it is drinking beautifully, properly stored it will improve in the bottle for some years.
