Atalaya del Camino 2015, of the Bodegas Atalaya winery, is the new vintage of the wine previously known as Atalaya.
This Spanish red wine is made from a blend of 85% Garnacha Tintorera (a.k.a Alicante Bouschet) and 15% Monastrell (a.k.a Mourvèdre), two bold grapes that produce wines with a great acidity, impressive structure and substantial ageing potential.
Belonging to the Almansa DO, the grapes come from low-yielding vines with an average age of 45 years located at an altitude between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level. Soils are composed of sand and limestone. Climate is rigorously continental.
The grapes were carefully selected and separately vinified. After that, the wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Decant the Atalaya wine at least 30 minutes before drinking.
Drink now until 2023.
The Spanish red wine Atalaya del Camino has an intense, dark, high cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim and some violet tinges.
This old-vines Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell exhibits suggestive aromas of juicy black fruit and red fruit, alongside creamy notions of spices, vanilla, toffee and moka over a fresh, balsamic background.
This Spanish red wine by Bodegas Atalaya (Gil Family Estates) is powerful, meaty and lush, displaying exuberant notes of red and black fruit nuanced by delicate remembrances of menthol, dry earth, violets, chocolate withered herbs and spices. Well-balanced, with a lively acidity, ripe tannins and a very long, fruity finish.
