The Syrah and Merlot grapes that make the blend of the red wine La Estacada Syrah-Merlot Cosecha de la Familia, by the Finca La Estacada winery, grow in a dry, Mediterranean soil composed of limestone and clay.
In order to increase the structure and the ageing potential of the wine, the Syrah grapes, coming from low-yielding vines, were macerated with their skins over an extended period of time.
Marketed under the label of the Uclés DO, La Estacada Syrah-Merlot 2013 was aged in French oak barrels for 8 months.
Finally, the wine spent a further 4 months in the bottle prior to its launching onto the market.
Decant a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.
Drink now until 2021.
This Spanish red wine has a youthful, high cherry robe with a garnet hue at the rim.
Notes of olive pate, wild berries, mineral hints and some balsamic, smoky touches. Scents of violets and dry herbs, along with noble wood and a creamy arabica coffee.
Sensuous and lush, the wine has loads of ripe black fruit and displays notes of coffee, pastry cream and oriental spices along with a remarkable freshness. Well-rounded tannins and good acidity. Medium finish with some bitter, vermouth-like hints.
|Our personal opinion||
A surprising Syrah from La Mancha. An earnest red wine made from two first-class international varieties.
