This is the new Spanish red wine by La Conreria de Scala Dei, a winery based in Priorat. Crafted with a light touch, Les Brugueres Negre aims to be an easy-to-drink and pleasant red wine.

It is made from a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, coming from several plots with different soil compositions and sun orientations.

The two varieties of this red wine from Priorat were separately fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Once completed, 70% of the wine was aged for 10 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, and the rest in the tanks.

As inviting as its white counterpart, the well-known Les BrugueresLes Brugueres Negre 2016 will improve in the bottle until 2023.

You can enjoy this wine, particularly in the summertime, at a slightly lower temperature that usual. It greatly benefits from it.

Additional Information

With a nice cherry colour with some violet tinges, the red wine Les Brugueres Negre has a medium robe, very intense and bright.

Fresh, intense and pleasant, both Grenache & Syrah deliver loads of red fruit and wild berries, subtly punctuated by some spicy and balsamic notes. This red wine from Priorat also exhibits some fresh notes of laurel and rosemary, under which there is an evocative mineral beat.

Yummy and lighter than your typical Priorat. Acidity is particularly good, and tannins are mild and pleasant. This wine by La Conreria d'Scala Dei lifts our spirit with its intoxicatingly good fruit - cherries, blackberries and raspberries - remembrances of Mediterranean garrigue and subtle spicy nuances. Long, delicious finish.

Our personal opinion

The second vintage of Les Brugueres Negre 2016 has again hit the mark. Honest, fresh and enjoyable.

  1. Mild Priorat review by KLM on 4/2/2019

A mild Priorat, well-mannered though not lacking in character. Excellent drink!!

  2. brugueres red review by Clockwise on 8/21/2018

Interesting surprise from Priorat. A cascade of fruit, crisp and fresh. Unnoticeable oak.
