This Crianza red wine is made from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan and 10% Syrah.

The red wine Les Crestes from Priorat is made from grapes 20 to 100 years of age. It is produced by the Mas Doix winery, one of Priorat's most prestigious companies, the vineyards are planted in terraces and slopes composed of black slate.

As for the 2017 vintage, after a very hot summer the September rainfalls extended the harvest until mid October. Finally, the overall quality was excellent.

After a manual harvest, the grapes were selected twice and separately vinified according to each variety and each plot.

Alcoholic fermentation was carried out with periodic punch-downs. Then this red wine from Priorat was drawn-off and aged for 8 months in 2nd year French oak barrels.

With aproduction under 50,000 bottles, Les Crestes 2017 was not filtered or clarified before its bottling.

Drink until 2022. Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Awarded a Silver Medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2018.

Additional Information

Les Crestes has an intense red cherry colour with a violet rim.

This red wine by Mas Doix puts the fruit on the forefront. And a nice fruit it is. Liquor-infused blackberries, cranberries, intense aromas of menthol and Mediterranean herbs, some liquorice and a remarkable mineral background.

This blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah from Priorat is taut, fresh, vivid. Meaty, savoury fruit, dim spicy nuances, deep balsamic and mineral notes, yummy tannins, still a bit young, and a long, zesty finish.

Our personal opinion

Fresher and livelier than ever, Les Crestes 2017 from Priorat expresses the region's gentlest side.
