Details

This Spanish red wine is produced by Cooperativa Agrícola Ulldemolis Sant Jaume, a cooperative based in the Montsant DO.

Made solely from Grenache, Les Pedrenyeres is produced from vineyards planted at altitudes above 600 metres. The area is called "Vall del Silenci" (yes, it means Silence Valley).

The grapes were manually harvested during the second half of October. Once in the cellar, they were destemmed and cold-macerated.

Then Les Pedrenyeres 2015 was aged for 14 months in American oak barrels and for a further 12 months in the cellar before its release.

Drink this red wine from Montsant until 2022.

Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Les Pedrenyeres has an intense cherry colour with a ruby rim.

Nose

This red wine from Montsant by Agrícola de Ulldemolins is quite intense. PDN exhibits some intense aromas of red fruit and wild berries are sustained by a deep mineral background, and nuanced by notes of sweet spices and balsam.

Palate

This varietal Grenache from Montsant is well-balanced, mildly unctuous and bold. Ripe, smooth tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish, with remembrances of raspberries, aromatic herbs and spices.

Our personal opinion

The little-known Les Pedrenyeres 2015 is a superb value that pairs excellently with hearty dishes.

Cooperative wines like this one usually offer a great value for money. This wine gave me a very pleasant sensation. I found the aftertaste particularly nice, a mixture of herbs, juicy fruit and minerality.
