The plots that border the Granja Ntra. Sra. de Remelluri estate belong, on the one hand, to the town of Labastida, and, on the other, to the town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Despite the fact that these two La Rioja areas are not far from one another, they produce two substantially different wines: this Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida and its sibling Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente.
This Spanish red wine is made from Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Viura coming from differently-aged vines grown in sandy-limestone soils. As for the 2014 vintage, it was quite an excellent one, even better than 2013.
Manually harvested, carefully selected and destemmed, alcoholic fermentation and skin maceration were carried out in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in 225-litre oak barrels and 5,000-litre French oak vats. The wine was then aged in those containers for a period of 10 months.
Blended and bottled, Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida 2014 was aged for a further months in the cellar prior to its market release.
We suggest that you gently decant the wine 30 minutes before you drink it.

The wine Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida has a clean, medium-high, cherry-coloured robe with garnet tinges and a reddish rim.
Fresh notes of black fruit combined with dim notes of toast, hints of liquor-infused fruit and aromas of spices and cream. This Crianza from La Rioja also suggests notions of leather and toffe, and remembrances of balsam and violets.
More intense on the palate than on the nose, Labastida by Bodega Remelluri elicits some deep notes of toast, dark fruit, an overall forest-like sensation, tense acidity and crunchy, delectable tannins. Opulent and rich, with a long, fruity finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Less sophisticated, but tastier than its brother, this Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida 2014 is a terroir-oriented Rioja which pairs excellently with beef recipes.
