This is the new vintage of Llavors. As usual, this Spanish red wine from L'Empordà is made from a blend of grape varieties.

The 2017 vintage is composed mainly of old-vines Samsó (Carignan), complemented with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Crafted by La Vinyeta, the grapes come from estate-owned vineyards planted in Mollet de Perelada, a town belonging to the province of Girona.

Fermented at a controlled temperature, Llavors 2017 was subsequently aged in French, Hungarian and Romanian oak barrels for over a period of 5 months.

The label changes every year. It is made from old local magazines or newspapers.

Drink this red wine from L'Empordà over the next 3-4 years.

Additional Information

The red wine Llavors has a high, clean, very bright cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.

This Crianza red wine suggests some lively aromas of ripe fruit, along with subtle wooden notes and some remembrances of aromatic herbs and roasted vegetables over a mineral background. Both Cabernets, the Merlot and the Samsó grapes mingle harmoniously.

Fresh, straightforward and pleasant, this red wine by La Vinyeta has a good acidity, ripe tannins and a well-balanced structure. Delicately spicy, this wine from L'Empordà has a long finish with some remembrances of red plums over a toasted background.

  1. emporda review by Father Jones on 7/20/2018

A steal. Dry and earthy, as a good Empordà should be.

  2. Great red wine review by Joost on 5/25/2017

It's a great wine! I went to the wine gardens in Spain, the people who work there are really passionate about the wine. It can be tasted, lovely full red wine, especially with dinner or just at relax time with some cheese.
