This Spanish red wine is produced in the northern Catalan region of Costers del Segre.
It is made from medium-aged vineyards grown under a harsh Continental climate.
Produced by Celler Cercavins, Lo Virol is crafted from a blend of Ull de Llebre and Merlot, separately vinified in stainless steel tanks. Then it was aged for 3 months in new and 2nd year French oak barrels.
Finally, Lo Virol 2017 was blended and bottled. Drink until 2020.
Lo Virol has an intense cherry colour with a violet rim.
Intense aromas of red and black fruit. The brief ageing in oak has given this blend of Tempranillo and Merlot from Celler Cercavins some spicy and toasted nuances over a smokey background.
Meaty and savoury, showing juicy notes of red fruit, some toasted nuances and dim suggestions of spices and herbs. This young red wine from Costers del Segre has some mild tannins, a well-balanced acidity and pleasant finish.
