The new vintage of this Atlantic Grenache has a different name and a different label. From now on, Jardín de Lúculo will bear the name Lúculo Old Vines.
Produced by Bodegas Casa de Lúculo, this Spanish red wine is a single varietal Grenache made from vines 50 to 70 years of age planted in the northern half of Navarra, at an altitude of 800 metres.
Harvested by hand, destemmed and gently pressed, the grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels, where Lúculo Old Vines 2015 was aged for 8 to 10 months. Before being bottled, this red wine from Navarra was aged for a further months in the bottle.
Drink this old-vines Grenache over the next 4 years.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | This red wine from Navarra has a garnet colour with a purple rim. Lúculo Old Vines is bright and clean. |

Nose | Extremely aromatic, but in a most elegant, subtle way. This Grenache from Navarra begins showing a rich bouquet of flowers, a discreet fruit and some suggestions of toast, smoke and aromatic herbs. Lúculo Old Vines also displays an elegant minerality. |
Palate | Fresh and nimble, with a seamless passage and great texture. This red wine by Casa de Lúculo is complex and extremely inviting. Wood is nicely integrated, and the fruit is first class. Long finish with a mineral and floral aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | Produced by a winery that consistently avoids bombast and emphasis, Lúculo Old Vines 2015 has an elegance difficult to find in most Spanish wines. |
