Details

Produced by Mas Martinet ViticultorsMartinet Bru the younger brother of the mighty Clos Martinet.

This single estate and organic Spanish red wine is made from Grenache, Hairy Grenache and Syrah, all of them planted in a plot called Mas Torrent, near the town of Falset, at the heart of DOQ Priorat. The soil is composed of tiny pieces of slate, the well-known llicorella, which gives the wine both freshness and an earthy, mineral character.

Produced by Josep-Lluís Pérez, who takes care of the vineyards, and his daughter Sara Pérez, responsible for crafting the wine, the grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in wooden vats with only a slight contact with the skins.

After that, this Martinet Bru 2017 was aged in 4,000-litre vats and in 300-litre French oak barrels (2nd, 3rd and 4th year) for over a period of 18 months.

This delightful red wine from Priorat was neither clarified nor filtered prior to its bottling, so it may contain some natural sediment.

We suggest that you decant it a minimum 1 hour before your drink it.

Drink until 2029.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Martinet Bru has a high, red cherry colour with a purple hue on the rim.

Nose

With a trademark Priorat character, this red wine by Mas Martinet smells of liquorice, blackberries, rosemary, mineral notes, hints of blue flowers and some balsamic touches. Delicate hints of cocoa, toffee and roasted coffee.

Palate

Ripe blackberries, aromatic herbs and an evocative mineral background comined with distinctive remembrances of fennel. Concentrated and dense, but also fresh, layered and sharp. This crianza red wine from Priorat has some savoury tannins and great acidity. This blend of Grenache & Syrah shows great purity, conveying a deep expression of terroir. Enticing mineral aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

Complex but approachable, bold but inviting, Martinet Bru 2017 explains why Priorat has achieved such great recognition in so little time.

I'm passionately in love with Priorat. I cannot help it. There is something in the wines which triggers some sort of subrational area in my mind.

Ms. Sara Perez never ceases to improve her craft. This Priorat is precise as a swiss clock, but at the same time it feels completely natural, totally unconstrained. Pure, mineral and with many good years ahead.
