The tiny, family-owned La Cova dels Vins winery crafts this Spanish red wine from 15 to 40-year old vineyards.
Located in Montsant, at an altitude around 400 metres above sea level, the plants grow in slate soils.
Both the harvest and the vinification process were carried out manually. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks.
Then this red wine from Montsant was aged for 14 months in 300-litre French oak barrels from Allier .
Drink Ombra 2016 until 2022.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
The wine Ombra has a clean, intense cherry colour with a garnet rim.
This red wine from Montsant shows a variety of sweet and spicy aromas and juicy red fruit over a mineral and earthy background.
Pleasant, gently warm and smooth. Fruit is very present, nuanced by some spicy and balsamic tips and an excellent acidity. Tannins are ripe, and the ending of this red wine by La Cova dels Vins is gentle and pleasant, leaving some creamy and mineral remembrances.
|Our personal opinion||
Excellent with hearty dishes, Ombra 2016 conveys the gentlest side of Montsant.
