Details

This Spanish red wine is a modern-style Rioja produced by Bodegas Orben.

It is a blend of Tempranillo grapes, coming from old-vines planted between the years 1945 and 1964, alongside a tiny amount of crisp, high-acidic Graciano that helps to bring tension and focus to the wine.

The vineyards grow in sandy soils in the heart of La Rioja Alavesa.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were meticulously selected, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

After the completion of malolactic fermentation, the red wine from Rioja Orben 2013 was aged for 12 months in new and 2nd year French oak barrels (50/50).

Finally, the wine was clarified, filtered and aged for 1 more year in the bottle.

Drink this wine of Bodegas Orben until 2023.

Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

Orben has a high, cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.

Nose

This Crianza red wine by Bodegas Orben-Grupo Artevino evokes aromas of balsam, resin and menthol, over which notes of juicy red fruit, clove, cinnamon, some floral nuances and some earthy and mineral suggestions are displayed.

Palate

Solid and bold, this blend of Tempranillo and Graciano from Rioja Alavesa has a meaty body sustained by a crisp acidity. Intense notes of red and black fruit, remembrances of balsam, menthol and garrigue and dim toasted and mineral nuances. Mild tannins and long, toasted finish.

Our personal opinion

Both powerful and drinkable, Orben 2013 is simply delightful. Be sure to decant it 1 hour before drinking.

New-style Rioja. I found this less oaky and more fruit-driven than usual. Cool label. Very good.

very nice wine but I personally don't buy expensive wine as there are many good wine's for half the price. This was a gift of 6 bottles and I am on my first glass of the first bottle. It does pack a punch and will be excellent with red meat. Slante'!
