This is the eagerly awaited new vintage of Pago de Carraovejas Reserva, one of Ribera del Duero's most prestigious red wines.
The defining factor of the 2014 vintage was the slow, steady ripening of the grapes thanks to very good overall weather conditions.
Harvested by hand, the grapes of this reserve red wine were selected first on site and then in the cellar.
After that, they were cold-macerated, destemmed and fermented in big oak vats and stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts.
Malolactic fermentation took place in the same containers, after which Pago de Carraovejas Reserva 2014 was aged for 12 months in fine-grain French oak barrels.
Clarified with egg whites, the wine was bottled in April 2016 and subsequently aged for 24 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
This remarkable wine should be decanted 1 hour before drinking.
Drink this reserve red wine from Ribera del Duero over the next 8-10 years.
The wine Pago de Carraovejas Reserva has an intense cherry colour with some bright garnet tinges and a purple rim.
Elegant and intense, this reserve red wine by Pago de Carraovejas shows nobility and character. Over a toasted and earthy background, the wine displays aromas of blue and red flowers, ripe red fruit and some creamy notions of cocoa, leather, tobacco, spices and smoke.
Bold and palate-coating, with a nice complexity and a texture that is a pure filigree. Remarkably good integration between oak and fruit, underpinned by notes of underbush, balsam and mineral. This reserve red wine from Ribera del Duero has an excellent acidity, some delicate, smooth tannins and long, elegant finish.
