This is the new vintage of Palacio Quemado Reserva, crafted by the Palacio Quemado winery.
Interestingly, in 2015 the company joined Grandes Pagos de España, a prestigious association of top Spanish wine producers.
After a traditional vinification in stainless steel tanks, the grapes were transferred into new and 2nd year French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels.
Then this wine from Ribera del Guadiana, located in the southern region of Extremadura, was aged for 16 months, and then for a further 20 months in the bottle.

The red wine Palacio Quemado Reserva has an intense cherry colour with a garnet rim.
This intense Reserva red wine begins with some clean aromas of blueberries and mulberries, nuanced by notes of Eastern spices, cocoa, vanilla and pepper. On the background of this blend of Tempranillo & Cabernet Sauvignon, there are some vegetal notions and touches of toast and balsam.
Fresh and savoury, this wine by the Palacio Quemado winery, a brand of the Alvear company, has a silky body and a well-balanced acidity. Juicy red fruit, remembrances of aromatic herbs and dry earth and a dash of menthol and spices. Mild tannins and long finish, with plenty of fruit and some earthy remembrances in the aftertaste.

From the unknown DO Ribera del Guadiana, Palacio Quemado Reserva 2015 shows an excellent integration of fruit and oak. It is a fresh wine that pairs wonderfully with BBQs.
