This is an exceedingly interesting Spanish white wine coming from Asturias

A virtually unknown wine region, in the midst to the so-called "Green Spain", Asturias has a long winemaking tradition and a rich heritage of indigenous varieties.

The wine Pésico Blanco is a good example of that, as it is a single varietal Albarín Blanco - not to be confounded with Albariño.

A truly interesting native grape, it was vinified following biodynamic procedures and limiting the addition of sulphites by winemaker Nicolás Marco.

Produced by the Dominio del Urogallo winery, the wine was vinified and further aged on its lees in 300 and 500-litre French oak barrels for 12 months.

Finally, Pésico Blanco 2015 was not filtered or clarified prior to its bottling.

Drink over the next 4 years.

Additional Information

The white wine Pésico Blanco has a very bright, clean, pale golden colour with some greyish tinges.

This original white wine form Asturias is intringuingly complex. Refined aromas of flowers, ripe white fruit, a distinctive minerality, remembrances of aromatic herbs, a watery note a touch of balsam and sweet spices.

Fresh and powerful, with a substantial body and a remarkable balance. This Albarín Blanco by Dominio del Urogallo exhibits some original notes of marzipan, fennel, aniseed and aromatic herbs, enlivened by notions of white fruit and dim mineral and spicy undertones. Well-balanced acidity and long finish.

Our personal opinion

A wine for intellectually curious drinkers, Pésico Blanco 2015 proves that Asturias is a very promising wine region.

This is a fairly interesting wine. Lemony and mineral, with a savoury tang.
