This is the third vintage of this little-known, almost confidential Catalan red wine.
Celler Laurona, incidentally, has in its team two outstanding oenologists: Fernando Zamora-one of the owners of L'Espectacle, Montsant's mightiest red wine-, and the one and only René Barbier, creator of Clos Mogador.
After a manual harvest, following by a careful selection of the grapes, the wine was aged for 15 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.
Drink until 2022+.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.
Very limited production.
Medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.
Wild berries, such as redcurrants and blackberries, underpinned by some spicy and balsamic notions, a layer of Mediterranean garrigue, and hints of cocoa, violets and aromatic herbs. Let it breathe, because the wine really improves after 1 hour.
Superbly crafted, showing a supple, smooth body and a confident elegance. Bold tannins and an excellent acidity, features that promise a long life ahead. Complex finish, with predominantly mineral and balsamic nuances.
