The 2015 vintage of this Crianza red wine, incidentally, is considered the best of the last years.
Produced from low-yielding vines, the grapes were selected and vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After that, this Spanish red wine produced by the Protos winery was aged for 14 months in 33% new French oak barrels, 34% 2nd year French and American oak barrels and 33% 3rd year French oak barrels.
After the completion of the process, Protos Crianza 2015 was aged for a further year before its commercial release.

The red wine Protos Crianza has a medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
Expressive and nuanced, this Crianza from Ribera del Duero begins with some aromas of raisins, blackberries and toast, alongside some spicy aromas of Jamaica pepper, toffee and balsam. In this Tinta del País (Tempranillo) there are also some dim floral notes reminiscent of violets and an understated mineral background.
Powerful and silky, this Crianza red wine by Bodegas Protos has a good balance between fruit, oak and tannins, still a bit rugged. The wine shows plenty of room for growth, and has a very good acidity. Medium finish with remembrances of cocoa, black fruit and spices.

A classic wine from Ribera del Duero that invariably delivers, Protos Crianza 2015 pairs excellently with meat dishes.

The effect of oak is less conspicuous now. I prefer this to any of the former vintages I've had.
