Constantly swept by the Tramuntana, a relentless northern wind, the old vines of this Spanish red wine were harvested by hand, and then the grapes were gently pressed and cold-macerated for some days.
After that, they underwent a traditional vinification and were aged for 12 months in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels.

As always, this red wine from L'Empordà comes with a playful label, which has received several LAUS design awards over the years. Reminiscent of a zoetrope machine, if we turn the bottle on its axis, we will see a sequence of images in motion.
The red wine Puntiapart has an intense, bright red colour with a garnet rim.
Beginning with a surprisingly mineral note, this red wine by La Vinyeta soon exhibits a dash of ripe fruit, extremely lively and almost jammy, underpinned by a deep earthy background and some aromas of clove and cinnamon, with hints of flowers and Mediterranean garrigue.
Fresh and yummy, this Crianza red wine from L'Empordà has a smooth texture and some mild tannins. Cocoa, violets, some earthy and mineral notions, and notes of balsam and spices. Good acidity and long, complex finish with a suggestion of menthol.

I drink this in the wonderful city of Girona, in a cozy restaurant right in the old Jewish quarter. The drink perfectly matched the romantic setting.
La Vinyeta winery is on the top of my list when speaking of Emporda. This blend works very well, and it will improve over the next 4 years.
