Details

This wine could reasonably be called a "Garage wine" from Valencia.

Rafael Cambra Dos is made from a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 35% Monastrell, coming from vineyards 25-both Cabermets-to 55 years of age-the Monastrell-planted in sandy soils.

After the harvest, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with daily pump-overs and punch-downs.

After that, this wine by Rafael Cambra was aged for 8 months in French oak barrels and for another 6 months in vats.

An excellent value, Rafael Cambra Dos 2014 will improve in the bottle for about 5 years.

Additional Information

Appearance

Very bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.

Nose

Intense, deep aromas of ripe red and black fruit, some vegetal remembrances, notes of toast and Arabica coffee, a dash of violets and dry earth and a touch of spices.

Palate

Lighter than one might expect, and remarkably fresh thanks to a great acidity. Rafael Cambra orange label shows notes of aromatic herbs, Mediterranean undergrowth, black fruit, spices and balsam. Ripe tannins and long, complex finish.

Our personal opinion

Rafael Cambra Dos 2014 gracefully combines drinkability and complexity.
