Details

Produced by Raventós de Alella, Raventós de Alella Blanc Allier is a single varietal Chardonnay produced near the town of Alella, only 20 km north of Barcelona.

This exclusive Spanish red wine is made from a single plot of low-yielding vines planted in soils composed of disintegrated granite, known in the area as Sauló.

After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were pressed and 50% of the must was cold-macerated to enhace the extraction of aromatic compounds.

Then this Chardonnay from Alella was slowly fermented, half in Allier oak barrels, half in stainless steel tanks. Both were aged on its lees for several months.

Finally, Raventós de Alella Blanc Allier 2018 was blended and aged for some weeks in the bottle.

Formerly known as Marqués de Alella Blanc Allier, this limited production wine will drink nicely over the next 4-5 years.

Additional Information

Appearance

The white wine Raventós de Alella Blanc Allier has a straw yellow colour with some golden glints.

Nose

Fresh and well-defined, this oaked white wine suggests intense notes of ripe white fruit, white flowers and fennel, alongside some creamy remembrances of spices, pastry and fine lees. This varietal Chardonnay is nuanced by some salty and mineral overtones.

Palate

This white wine by Raventós de Alella is fresh and rich, displaying flair and elegance. Smokey remembrances, some vegetal and spicy hints and notes of tropical fruit, citrus, butter, salt and aromatic herbs. Well-balanced acidity and long finish.

Our personal opinion

A confidential Chardonnay from the DO Alella, Raventós de Alella Blanc Allier 2018 perfectly stands comparison with much more highly-priced equivalents.

This is a very good Chardonnay. What I like is that it is fresh and not too creamy. Better than many calif. chards.
